DaimlerChrysler Purchased Automotive Unit of EG&G.

DaimlerChrysler AG, said its automotive electronics subsidiary, Temic, bought the automotive sensor unit of U.S. medical diagnostic equipment maker EG&G Inc. to expand its air-bag sensor activities.

Terms of the deal were not released. EG&G Inc. of Wellesley, Massachusetts, will allow DaimlerChrysler to begin production of a new generation of air-bag sensors this summer, the company said. The Daimler-Chrysler unit manufactures more than 10 million air-bag sensors …
